The Central Ground Water Board has issued new guidelines on ground water extraction. The guidelines are open for public consultation until December 16th. Shortly after their release, The Pioneer noted the difficulty of enforcment and the likelihood of a backlash from water intensive industries, real estate interests and domestic consumers. An article in The Times suggests the new guidelines are will impact bottled water plants and major tanker business most strongly. Initial reactions from the above sectors may have led to the consultation period on the new guidelines.
