New(ish) paper (link below) with Persis Taraporevala as part of a great SAMAJ special issue on digitalisation of Indian urban governance. The paper considers the changing role of social media in India. Here are two graphs from the project.  

Using 4.3 million tweets that mentioned smart city accounts, we extracted the most common words used over time. The plots below show the frequency of use multiplied by the number of accounts mentioned. The local government (ULB) and smart city parastatal accounts (SPV) are treated separately. What do you notice?
