तितली

सरकार एक तितली पकड़ना
चाहती है, उसे चाहिए
एक फूल बैजयन्ती का |

सरकार को एक टमटम चाहिए
वह हवा खाने निकलेगी
आज रात निहारेगी आसमान में टँके
तारे
उसे चाहिए एक सारंगी, एक खरगोश
एक मोर |

सरकार गायेगी और नाचेगी
तितली की तरह फूल पर बैठकर
अपने पँखों में रंग भरेगी |

सरकार को एक आदमी चाहिए
सिर्फ़ एक अदद आदमी |
वह उसके साथ सोएगी सारी रात,
सपनों की दुनिया में टह्लयेगी,
सिने में टिकायेगी अपना माथा
चूमेगी उसे ओर-पोर |

सरकार क़सम खाकर कहती है
की सुबह होने पर
जब वह कहेगी – ‘विदा बंधु विदा’
तो आदमी लौटेगी
साबुत-का-साबुत,
एक लौटते हुए आदमी की तरह |

 

Butterfly

Government wants to catch a butterfly
It need a shield of flowers.

Government needs a cart
It go out for some air
Tonight it will see stitched in the sky
Stars
It needs a sarangi*, a rabbit
A peacock. 

Government will sing and dance
Sit on a flower like a butterfly
and fill its wings with colour.

Government needs a man
Just a numbers man. 
All night it will sleep by him,
Stroll in the world of dreams,
Rest its head on his chest
Kiss him everywhere. 
Government makes a promise
That on the morning
When it will say - ‘farewell, brother, farewell’
The man will return
Full and whole,
Like a returned man.

* Musical instrument played with a bow and used in South Asian classical music

बादशाह हमेशा बादशाह के लिए
बादशाह बनने की दुआ करता है

लाल क़िले का बूढ़ा दरबान
बताता है |

To make Akbar emperor

Akbar gave prayers
To make Jehangir emperor 

Jehangir gave prayers
To make Shahjahan emperor

Emperors always say prayers
for emperors to become emperors
